PORTFOLIO EVENTS

Students in both tracks of the BSN program at Clayton State University must submit a portfolio as a program requirement for graduation. The portfolio is used as an outcome measurement and provides students with an opportunity to reflect on their academic experiences and to synthesize their learning and accomplishments.

It is the responsibility of the student to submit this portfolio by mid-term in their final semester of enrollment: NURS 4500 for Basic Licensure track and NURS 4602 for RN-BSN completion track. The portfolio will be reviewed by a designated faculty member who use strict criteria to evaluate the portfolio for completion and evidence of critical analysis of performance in the BSN program.

Check out the School of Nursing's Exit Portfolio and Outcomes pages for more information.

Contact Mebane "Kanita" Key directly by e-mail (mkey4@student.clayton.edu)

or sent her a message via our "Contact Us" page to sign up for events (when required)

or if you have any questions concerning the events.

Review the SNA's Code of Conduct for ALL Portfolio Opportunities before you attend.

MedShare

PROGRAM OUTCOME: Caring, possibly Human Diversity

MedShare International is dedicated to recycling surplus medical supplies and equipment for use by healthcare institutions in developing countries. To achieve this mission, MedShare International collects batch and single item supplies and equipment that are still valuable but no longer in demand in the United States due to procedural excess, technological change, regulatory requirements, or production overage, and distributes them to healthcare facilities in targeted developing countries.

Volunteers typically work to organize, sort and package medical supplies to be sent overseas. The sorting sessions are three hours long, and happen in the sort room of the Decatur facility, which is heated / air conditioned. The sorting is not particularly physically strenuous; however, volunteers are encouraged to dress comfortably (e.g. sneakers), as you spend the session on your feet.

LEAD the Way Leadership Seminars

PORTFOLIO OUTCOME: Professional Development

LEAD the Way is a series of leadership seminars in which students have the opportunity to interact with leaders in the community to explore the leadership and skill sets needed to be an effective leader.  The program is coordinated with our Service Learning Series so that students expand their knowledge of civic engagement as more than simple volunteerism, but also connect this involvement with local companies and businesses who through their work, affect change by addressing social inequalities and committing to community activism within their own organization.  By attending the LEAD the Way seminars, students will channel their thought processes about the relationship between leadership, philanthropy, and civic engagement, and connect how the three are intimately intertwined and sometimes interchangeable.

Each presenter of the LEAD the Way Seminars will address the following topics:

   1. A description of the presenter's current leadership position;
   2. Specific leadership qualities the presenter had to learn, acquire and enhance to effectively perform his/her job function; and
   3. Why his/her position and organization are important to the community/how these leadership skills can apply to civic engagement and community activism opportunities.
