Fayette Senior Services

Volunteers and community support provide a valuable service to the community through the Fayette Senior Services framework.

Giving as little as one hour a week can change the lives of senior citizens.

  • Letters will be provided.

  • RSVP is a must!

  • Orientation will be in early September.

  • Students have to fill out paper work and attend an orientation.

  • Background checks will be performed.

When can you help?

 

The agency is open Monday thru Thursday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Friday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. You tell us the day and/or time that's convenient for you and we will work with your schedule!

What can you do at FSS?

  • Help us deliver Meals on Wheels to 150 eligible clients one day a week.

  • Be a volunteer driver for our Frozen Meals Program participants.

  • Be a volunteer driver to medical appointments, shopping, or the beauty shop Volunteers use their own vehicles and the mileage is tax deductible.

  • Serve as a "friendly visitor" for a senior client in their home with visits/tasks mutually agreed upon by the senior and volunteer

  • Phone a Friend...You will be matched with a homebound senior and agree to telephone them at least twice a week

  • Help at the Friendship Center by assisting seniors with planned activities

  • Participate in our special projects: Project Love, Fundraisers and etc...

How much time is involved?

  • Meals on Wheels Program Approximately 2 hours delivery time once a week

  • Volunteer drivers are on call approximately 3 hours once a week AM or PM

  • Frozen Meals Program: 2-3 hours once a week.

  • Friendly Visitor Program. At least 1 hour per week

  • For Phone a Friend. Call a senior at least twice a week

  • Friendship Day Center: once a week for 4 hours: 9AM - 1PM
