Officers Meeting Minutes

April 14, 2008

President:

·         Welcomed members

·         Introduced board (roll call)

·         Introduction of new assistant officer

·         Review of officer’s function and duties

1^st Vice President:

·         Discussed various concepts on maximizing attendance; improving table cost and addressing adequate parking issues for upcoming “Job Fair” event

·         Discussed supporting “Career Services Job Fair” and encouraging team support

·         Review of officer position and expected duties

2^nd Vice President:

·         Discussed improving options for providing opportunity letters in a timely manner to members

·         Review of most effective options for informing members of upcoming events that still required volunteer support

·         Review of officer position and expected duties

Secretary:

·         Discussed obtaining ISBN numbers needed in order to proceed with obtaining textbook donations for new student orientation

·         Discussed obtaining recent list of new members in order to update email information

·         Discussed deleting graduating members in order to maintain up-to-date organized information

·         Review of officer position and expected duties

Treasurer:

·         Review of current budget and financial status of organization

·         Provided information regarding reimbursement deadlines and payments

·         Review of officer position and expected duties

BTN directors:

·         Review of upcoming campus and community events

·         Discussed possible options to improve reaching out to new members

·         Review of officer position and expected duties

Webmaster:

·         Review of website features; request for feedback and/or suggestions

·         Review of officer position and expected duties

Issues discussed/ Officer’s Meeting:

·         Consider dates for possible fundraisers; only 2 fundraiser’s allowed per organization

·         Discussed selling T-shirts at SNA as long as CSU logo is not included on shirt

·         Ms. Barnes discussed $1.5 M grant given to CSU; requested need of 5 volunteers for an all day event (date to be confirmed) shadowing at SRMC. Email her if interested in opportunity (portfolio letter will be provided)

·         Obtaining an area for storage of organization’s items (i.e. tee shirts, etc.)

·         Tasha met with BTN

·         Monthly Agendas will be provided via email to all officers before meeting

·         Special farewell and good luck reception held for old office members

1^st Vice President:

·         Discussed the importance of attendance and active participation at the upcoming “Job Fair” event

·         Informed members regarding parking availability and early arrival  

·         Discussed supporting “Career Services Job Fair” and encouraging team support

2^nd Vice President:

·         Discussed new volunteer opportunities available and encouraged participation

·         Informed members of approaching opportunities that still sought volunteers

·         Reminded everyone about the donations being held for Children’s Hospital until May 2^nd; items may be left with Ms. Barnes (make sure to provide identifying information for portfolio letter)

·         Passed out portfolio letters to members for former volunteer support

Treasurer:

·         Review of funding availability

Issues Discussed in General Meeting:

·         Hurst Review Program was discussed; information regarding registration, cost and program options were provided (members encouraged to consider review course)

·         Advantages of Job Fair attendance and importance of professional attire and conduct

·         Information on how to renew SNA membership and website link

·         General reminder of upcoming GANS convention in October

·         Informed members to bring SNA membership card to all convention meeting

·         Open discussion for questions from members held prior to adjourning meeting

·         All members welcomed to reception being held for previous officers

President:

·         Closed general meeting and welcomed everyone to reception gathering
