SNA Minutes - September 19, 2003


  • This meeting was called to order at 1301.
  • Introduction of guess speakers: Brian Porter (USAF) and Nichelle Johnson (Army).

  • BAKE SALE!!  We are having a bake sale on Thursday, September 25th from 8a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lobby in the BHS-building. We are asking that everyone who has an interest to bring baked goods (e.g. cookies, cake, cup cakes, brownies, fruit). Please limit cookies to 3 per bag. Each item will sale for 50 cents. O’Charley’s gift certificate will be raffled at the bake sale. Our goal is to make $275. Please support SNA!!

  • SAMARITANS’ PURSE AWARD: SNA will pay for the shipping of our boxes, since majority of the members will be participating (YEAH!!) We will need the shoe boxes by October 3rd. If you are attending GANS, please bring the boxes with you to the mandatory meeting. The room is TBA for the meeting. Kristal will get letters for the portfolio for members who bring shoe boxes.

  • WAL-MART HEALTH FAIR:  Is Saturday, September 20th from 12noon to 4 p.m. We will be doing B/P screenings. We will also be collecting toys for Samaritan’s Purse. Mrs. Melanie Sayers will be donating a large amount of money to SNA, so please support us. The dress attire is casual. Don’t forget to bring your BP cuffs!

  • LEUKEMIA LIGHT THE NIGHT: It will be at Centennial Park tomorrow, September 20th, at 7:00 p.m. There will be a letter from Carter’s for your portfolio. Wear the Carter’s T-Shirt and you will receive a balloon with a flashlight. Please forward any questions to Erika at: 404-433-1136 or Kristal at 404-729-1525. NO PRANK CALLS PLEASE!! 

  • AIDs/ALZHEIMER WALK: There will be a sign up sheets available, so sign up if you are interested. If you sign up for AIDS walk, you will get an email from Kristal w/a link to register under our team name. The Alzheimer Walk will be October 11th in Peachtree City. If anyone is interested, please see Christie. Also, if you are interested in the pre-nursing session, please see Christie. SENIORS: Please contact us in regards to speaking to the pre-nursing students.

  • CLIPBOARD SALE: We are taking orders for clipboards from now until Friday, September 26th. This is to ensure that the order will be received prior to the beginning of HIT-1.The prices are as follow: $17.95 w/o calculator and $19.95 w/ a calculator. If you are writing a check, please make your check payable to CCSU and include your SS#. There will be a raffle for a clipboard at the end of the meeting.

  • GANS: There will be a mandatory meeting for all members attending GANS. There will be two meetings held in order to accommodate everyone. You have the option of attending on: October 2nd at 1:30 p.m. or October 3rd at 1:00 p.m. If you would like to attend GANS and you have not signed up yet, it is not too late, but you must have your registration form postmarked by Monday. You will have to pay your own registration. Also, you are still required to email Jerita so that we will know that you will be attending GANS. We do have an extra room that you can put in your name, which can occupy 4-6 people at the cost of $105/night.

  • GANS: We need five people to help with the banner. Please sign up and let us know when will be a good time for all of us to meet and get the show on the road! Also, we have started collecting pennies and change for the Penny Wars. On October 2nd and 3rd, we will be collecting change from everyone. So, bring your change. If we win the Penny War, our school receives ½ of whatever monies is collected and GANS keeps the other ½. Remember, silver change will count against us if they find them mixed in with the pennies. So, empty your pockets and help us when the war!!!

  • APPLICATIONS:  Thank you to all of the members that we have; new and old. Majority of our members are NSNA members. Being that this is the case, we will only mail NSNA applications every other month. You are still welcome to join SNA and NSNA, but you will not receive your membership card until after Thanksgiving. The next shipment will be November 21st.  You are also welcome to mail the NSNA application yourself.

  • WEBSITE: Thanks to an SNA member who volunteered to help us, we will be revamping the website. Scholarships will be scanned on the website so that you can print them yourself. There will be links to different events. This will be the main source of information. You will receive an email saying, “Website Update” when there is a new portfolio opportunity. So, please visit our website.

  • NEWSLETTER: Any- and everyone are welcome to summit ideas for articles. So send us your ideas for submission in the next newsletter.

  • THE SNA MEMBER OF THE MONTH ISCHRISTIE AGUIRRE!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS, CHRISTIE!
