SNA Minutes - September 13, 2004

  • This meeting was called to order at 1207.
  • All board members were introduced: Erika Whetzel, Heather Underwood, Christie Aguirre, Becca Snyder, Dawn Pollard, Beverly Hill, Beth Turner
  • Aids Walk Atlanta @ Piedmont Park on Oct. 17th, this committee is headed up by Scottie Young. More information is on the SNA website.
  • Alzheimer's Memory Walk on Oct. 2nd in Peachtree City, this is headed up by Christie Aguirre. Sign up on the website or at the activities fair. Donations can be made online.
  • Light the Night Leukemia Walk on Oct. 9th @ Centennial Olympic Park. Headed up by Erika Whetzel. Shirts for the event have been donated to walkers, but we would like for everyone that participates to make a donation of at least $5.00. This event is at night, beginning at 1900.
  • Bowling event after school on Oct. 27th @ noon. Approximately $10.00 a person. More information will be sent out via e-mail as information is received.
  • First Step Community Service Project, this is coordinated by Christie Aguirre. This is a community service project that entails providing resources to new families over the phone. This project does involve some training. Christie will be in contact with the coordinators to see if they will come to Clayton State for the training sessions. More information will be posted on the SNA website as it is received. This is a portfolio opportunity.
  • Carwash scheduled for Sept. 18th @ Bruster's on Jodeco Rd. Directions are on the SNA website. There are two time blocks that we need people to sign up for so that people are not out in the hot sun all day. Our goal is to raise over $200.00. Free Bruster's ice cream coupon booklets will be given.
  • Bake Sale on Nov. 8th in the Health Sciences lobby. We need people to bring items to sell and to man the table. There will also be a raffle for gift certificates. There will be a sign-up sheet on the SNA website for time slots. This has been a good fundraiser for us in the past, so we need as many people to participate and to buy as possible.
  • Belk Fundraiser for Oct. 30th at the Fayetteville Pavilion Shopping Center. This is an event for the SNA to pre-sell tickets that customers can use on October 30 for 20% off anything in the store, as well as 10% off home items. The tickets are ONLY $5.00 and can be used at ANY Belk store on October 30. All proceeds go to the SNA. Also, there is a portfolio opportunity for a BP screening at this store. Please sign up on the SNA website.
  • T-Shirt Sales for two weeks. You can look at the design of the shirt on the SNA website. You will need to print off the order form from the website and put it in the SNA mailbox or give it to a SNA board member.
  • Senior Meeting on Sept. 20th at noon in C14 to discuss graduation related events and Hurst Review.
  • GANS is Oct. 14th-16th in Calloway Gardens. We are doing a scrapbook this year for an award at GANS and we need people to submit stories and pictures. We are also doing the Samaritan's Purse Award again this year, which gives shoeboxes filled with items for boys and girls to needy families. SNA will pay for half of the shipping if you bring two boxes. We would like to win the Penny Wars again, so save all of your change and bring it to GANS. If we win, we get half of the money raised! There will be a mandatory meeting on Oct. 11th for everyone going to GANS to fill out paperwork. The website is up for an award this year at GANS! GO BEV!
  • Newsletter is out. Heather has worked hard to get the newsletter ready this month. She would like for anyone that has nay ideas or stories to send them to her so she can put them in the newsletter. All ideas are welcome. You can get a copy of the newsletter on the website.
  • This meeting was adjourned at 1320.
