Thanks to our president, Lora Liu, and our excellent organization, we won the
Chapter of the Year award.
Ms. Barnes, who has been very supportive of SNA won the
Advisor of the Year award.
Our CSU SNA website and newsletters won the

During the convention, we won the

GA Nursing Specialty Tags
At the 2009 GNA Convention & Membership Assembly in Athens, GNA members had the opportunity to vote on three proposed designs for a future nurse specialty license plate. The Membership Assembly selected the design above, which the Georgia Nurses Foundation will submit to the Georgia Department of Revenue for approval. Below are some facts on the necessary steps to have a nurse license plate manufactured by the Georgia Department of Revenue, with a portion of the $25 tag fee directed to GNF.
- Application will now be made to the Department of Revenue. In addition to the design selected, this will require liability insurance and a surety bond.
- 1000 tags must be pre-purchased.
- There is a two-year time limit to pre-purchase 1000 tags.
- GNF will collect the deposit funds for pre-purchased tags and the tag application until the threshold of 1000 purchases is reached.
- If that threshold is reached, all funds and applications collected will be forwarded to the Georgia Department of Revenue and tags will begin to be manufactured.
- The goal is to have 1000 nurse tags pre-purchased as soon as possible so manufacturing can begin.
- GNF would use potential revenue derived from the purchase of a nurse license plate for nursing scholarships and workforce planning & development.
- If 1000 specialty tags are not pre-purchased by the nursing community and its supporters within the two-year time frame, GNF will be prepared to return those application fees to the individuals.
- According to the Georgia Department of Revenue, several organizations have failed to reach the 1000 mark in the past.
- The success of the nurse specialty tag program depends on the support of the nursing community to reach the required 1000 pre-purchased license plates.

To contribute your deposit for an RN tag (subject to GNF/DOR application approval), please make a check out in the amount of $25.00 and include your name, address, telephone number and email address. If the nursing community does not reach the 1000 pre-purchased plate threshold, the deposits will be returned.
