Have Some Tips...

Awards and Scholarships -- Tips taken from the 2009 NSNA MidYear Conference

FNSNA Website

- Deadline for FNSNA Scholarship -- January 15, 2010

    - Over $100,000 awarded!

    - Each scholarship awards $1000-$5000 annually

        - Pays for tuition, academic books, and fees

    - One scholarship application applies for multiple scholarships

- Deadline for Marilyn Bagwell Leadership Development

        Grant Program -- February 12, 2010

- It may appear to be a daunting task but... the SAME, ONE

essay can be used for other applications, too. So, the time

spent on an essay is well worth it!

- Tips for Reference Letters and Essays

    - Send the person who is writing your reference letter some info:

        - What is the scholarship?

        - What are they/you looking for or what should the reference

letter focus on (ex. ethnicity, academics, community

            involvement, financial assistance)?

     - Include your personal statement, a few key words of

description (ex. honesty or integrity), any special

information (ex. adverse situations in life such as single

            parent or financial difficulties

    - Be creative in the way you answer the application questions.

    - Attach a curriculum vitae (CV) or resume!

            - Be detailed with your CV and brief on your resume

    - Send them thank you notes for considering the the time spent

reviewing your application...they'll definitely remember you

        next year.
