Constitution
ARTICLE I. NAME
SECTION 1. The name
of the organization shall be the Howard Marketing Club at
Clayton State University
ARTICLE II. PURPOSE
SECTION 1. The purpose
of the Howard Marketing Club shall be:
a. To foster scientific study and research in the field of
marketing;
b. To develop sound thinking in marketing theory and more exact
knowledge and definition of marketing principles;
c. To provide students with the opportunity to hear speakers
well established in the marketing field;
d. To develop better public understanding and appreciation of
marketing problems;
e. To improve marketing personnel;
f. To promote friendly relations between students, faculty, and
business people.
ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP
SECTION 1. Membership shall be open to all students, faculty, or
alumni who are interested in marketing and any other individuals
who are approved by the board of directors.
SECTION 2.
No dues are required, but this can change upon a vote by
members.
SECTION 3.
Membership can be obtained by filling out an application and
turning it into the advisor or an officer.
SECTION 4.
Membership shall be renewed with the CSU Office of Campus Life
on each Fall semester. The club must conform to a five student
member minimum and update the officers’ list as well.
ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS
SECTION 1. The officers consist of the faculty advisor, president,
vice president, treasurer, and secretary.
SECTION 2.
The officers shall be elected by secret ballot in the opening of
the fall and/or spring semesters of each year to serve the
upcoming semester.
SECTION 3. Any officer who fails to fulfill his or her duties may be
removed by the remaining officers’ majority vote.
ARTICLE V. DUTIES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
SECTION 1. The president's duties shall be to preside over all
meetings and events and may delegate this duty to another
officer. The president shall oversee all functions of the club
and ensure compliance with university regulations.
SECTION 2. The vice president shall perform the duties of the
president in the president's absence. In the event of vacancy of
the presidency, the treasurer shall succeed to the presidency.
The vice president’s main duty is to handle membership and
recruitment.
SECTION 3.
The secretary shall keep all records of activities and events,
handle email broadcasts to the membership and university,
written correspondence to alumni, and prepare a written report
of each meeting.
SECTION 4.
The treasurer shall collect all funds and deposit them in an
account on behalf of the Howard Marketing Club. He/she shall
work closely with the vice president in collecting the club dues
if applicable. He/she will be responsible for making necessary
expenditures when authorized by the president, keeping financial
records, and submitting a written financial report to the
faculty advisor at the end of each semester. He/she will also
prepare the annual budget request and submit it to Campus Life.
ARTICLE VI. FACULTY ADVISOR
SECTION 1.
The faculty advisor
shall be open to any current marketing faculty member who wishes
share his or her expertise.
Since the Howard Marketing Club is a student-run organization,
the faculty member can be replaced by a majority vote of the
officers.
ARTICLE VII. MEETINGS
SECTION 1.
The Howard
Marketing Club shall meet during the university’s activity time
or when agreed by the officers. Meeting dates, times and places
shall be determined by the officers or majority of members. All
members shall be notified no later than five days prior to the
meetings.
