The first Alpha Awareness Seminar for the
chartering of the Clayton College & State University chapter was
held on May 21st 1998 at the Student Center Faculty Dining Room.
On June 1st 1999, Executive Director, Brother Ronald L. Anderson
sent a letter to the President of CCSU which stated:
“The Fraternity at a properly convened meeting of the Board of
Directors on January 23, 1999 in Orlando, Florida approved the
establishment of the Tau Epsilon Chapter making it the first
fraternity established at Clayton College & State University.
The General Organization truly believes that the current
conditions at your institution warrants the establishment of the
Tau Epsilon Chapter. We are committed to ensuring the success of
the Tau Epsilon Chapter and solicit your support in our effort
to introduce Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. to the Clayton
College and State University campus…............”
The founders of the Tau Epsilon Chapter are Brother Dr. John H.
Carter, Brother Ronnie Jenkins, and Brother Thomas Walters.
Because of their diligent work to establish the chapter, Ms.
Veronica Ransom, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is
the “Mother of the Tau Epsilon Chapter”; Mr. John H. Eaves is
the “Precursor of the Tau Epsilon Chapter”; and Ms. Deborah
Greer, Director of Diversity Programs and Disability Service and
a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., is the on-campus
chapter mother.
On March 24th 2001 the first initiates of the Tau Epsilon
Chapter crossed the burning sands of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
Inc. They were: Anthandus "Natural Lite" Beauford, William "Mr.
X-act" Jenkins, and Jay "I-Land Breez" Richardson.
On April 13th, 2002 the beta line, "Six Pharaohs Headed Into New
eXtremes" (S.P.H.I.N.X) crossed the burning sands giving the
chapter the required number of members to charter the chapter.
The beta line included Mycheal "Bold Face" Carter, Damon "Frank
Skee" Johnson, Ricky "Lil Daryl" Hollingsworth, Billy "Missing
In Action" (M.I.A.) Fisher, Billy "Just In Time" (J.I.T.) Evans,
and David "Mellow Yellow" Wilson.
The Tau Epsilon Chapter was chartered on April 23rd, 2002,
making it the first undergraduate chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha
Fraternity Inc. to be chartered in Georgia in over 10 years.
Since its founding, the Tau Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha
has continued to set the standards for others to follow, by
upholding the principles of.........Manly deeds, Scholarship,
and Love for all mankind.
